The internet was set abuzz over the weekend with news of what was being referred to as the Beyonce Divorce Jay Z 2010. In case you’ve been buried under a rock, or just don’t like to chirp around Twitter, here’s the lowdown on how Justin Bieber was ultimately responsible for this story.
First things first, as most of you would already know, Justin Bieber has admitted about having a little-man crush on the multi-platinum selling wife of rapper Jay Z. But that isn’t exactly the reason why one playful fan decided to spread the dramatic tale of an impending Beyonce divorce.
Things started off when Justin Bieber decided to play a prank on his Twitter followers. He told them that he had gotten his signature shaggy hair chopped to appease his girlfriend. This statement, of course, went on to incite great panic among the millions of girls (and yes, guys too) who are affected by the eponymously named disease, Bieber fever.
One among those fans was the owner of the Twitter account handle @BieberTeamNY, who decided to return Justin’s prank with, no cookie for guessing the right answer here, another prank.
Following is a tweet that @BieberTeamNY sent out to his/her many like-minded followers:
“RT this if you want to prank the #prankster;) #beyoncegotdivorced”
As expected, all Biebermaniacs do in fact flock together, and they retweeted the message like there would be no tomorrow. Of course, here we are, and it is tomorrow, and that one hash tag penetrated the deep recesses of cyberspace to appear on Twitter’s own Trending Topics list, along with sealing a position on Google Trends.
After it became obvious that the news was in fact nothing more than one immature fan trying to garner some attention, said fan reached out via the medium that started it all, to say the following:
As you all know, I’m getting mad hate for “starting beyoncegotdivorced.” Before you hate, hear the story. Justin pranked us today by saying he had a girlfriend and “cutting his hair,” so we wanted to prank him back. I tweeted it, as a joke, and it got 100+ RTs. I tweeted it maybe 5-10 more times after that, then I stopped. We did it as a JOKE, thinking that Justin would get excited if he saw it because he loves Beyonce. It was NOT intended to offend anyone. It isn’t insulting “divorced people.” It was a JOKE, something half of you are clearly unable to take. It’s not my fault it became a worldwide TT. I tweeted it as a joke, then stopped completely. You all made it worse by tweeting it. Let it go. It was a joke. It was never meant to turn into any of this. So for all of you saying I’m not a Belieber and those of you wishing me dead, get over yourself. It’s pathetic. Learn to take a JOKE, then hate.
All that remains to be seen is whether Justin will respond to this himself. Don’t hold your breath expecting a comment from either half of the couple about anything related to the Beyonce divorce Jay Z 2010 story.
