The 9 Best Movie Soundtracks Since 2000

Watching Nolan’s latest had us all wondering about the best movie soundtracks of recent times. It’s true – we’ve seen these little treasures shunned in the 1990s, which makes it great to see them return to prominence partly due to Youtube.
So without much ado, let’s get down to the 10 Best Movie Soundtracks Between 2000-2010…
#9 The Transformers Movies
Some of you may hate us for including this franchise (especially after the terrible sequel), we must tip our hats to a truly spectacular collection of tracks ranging from artists including Linkin Park, Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, amongst other prominent bands.

#8 Lose Yourself

Eminem made his movie debut with this film, that much or our surprise didn’t completely blow. Besides a decent acting performance, the “white rapper” gave us a rap tune we’ll still be throwing our hoodies to decades from now.

#7  The Twilight Saga

So maybe sparkling pretty-boy vampires aren’t what you lust after, that still doesn’t matter when you look at the millions who are obviously moved by the story of Bella and Edward. In tune with the movie’s very teenage approach to romance, is the movie’s excellent and upbeat soundtrack.

#6 A Knight’s Tale

The Health Ledger-starrer A Knight’s Tale, begins with a bang (courtesy “We Will Rock You”by Queen), and ends on same note. Excellent music sets the mood for this movie of epic horse battles set in the medieval ages.

#5 School Of Rock

Jack Black is awesome. And School Of Rock was testament to that fact. Kickass rock music wasn’t just the subject, it was the very fabric that made this comedy move forward. Oh and, Jack Black is awesome.

#4 O Brother, Where Art Thou?

This soundtrack had everything from bluegrass, gospel, the blues and even some country music blended together for a typically-absurd Cohen brothers comedy.

#3 Once

The Frames’ Glen Hansard and newcomer Markéta Irglová gave us the loveliest falling-in-love record of the decade. Rest assured we aren’t implying that the movie wasn’t good, in fact Once is an excellent example of a soundtrack perfectly complementing the script.

#2 Juno

Juno made us all smile. This quirky indie-comedy about Juno, a misfit teenager who just realizes that she’s pregnant with the school’s resident geek. The solution – give the kid to a barren couple. Note: The ending sequence is awesome.

#1 Almost Famous

Cameron Crowe’s masterpiece about a teenage rock-music journalist who lands the gig of a lifetime – travelling with the next big thing on the rock scene. Trials, tribulations coupled with the typical sex, drugs and rock-n-roll made us want to sing along with what is truly on of the best soundtracks ever.
